Half the fun of reading is finding the next book, and after a while that gets hard. The same covers, the same recommendations, the same stack you keep meaning to start. A blind date takes the choosing out of your hands and gives you back the surprise. More often than not, it puts a book in your hands that you would never have picked up on your own, and you end up loving it.
It’s also just a lovely thing to unwrap. Paper, a little mystery, and a story waiting underneath.
How ours work
Every Tropes and Lore bundle starts with a genre and a handful of tropes. You pick the one that sounds like your kind of story, and we hand-pick a book to match, wrap it so you can’t peek, and send it your way.
- Pick a genre. Romance, Romantasy, Fantasy, Dark Romance or Mysteries / Thriller. Keep an eye out for the odd Limited Edition too, when a special theme is running.
- Read the tropes. Each bundle lists the tropes you can expect, so you know whether you’re in for enemies to lovers or a whodunit.
- Check the spice. Every bundle wears a spice rating of Sweet, Warm or Scorching, so there are no surprises you didn’t sign up for.
- Choose book or box. A book bundle is one wrapped book with a handful of goodies tucked inside the paper and a hand-written note. A box bundle is all of that, boxed, with even more goodies packed in alongside it.
Choosing by trope
Tropes are the story patterns readers fall for again and again, like enemies to lovers, found family or the unreliable narrator. They are the best way to shop blind, because they tell you what a book will feel like without spoiling a single page. Could I get book two of a series?
Never. If a book belongs to a series, we only ever send book one. The whole point is a fresh start, and if you fall hard, the rest of the series is waiting for you.
What if I’ve already read it?
It happens, because we can’t see your shelves. Add Been There, Read That Protection to your bundle in the cart, and a book you already own becomes a free exchange, postage both ways on us. Without it you can still exchange a book; our refund policy has the details.
